This series 'Portraits d'Ano' has many formal manifestations. On paper, collages, canvas and soon ceramics. Most of them are painted in the NYC studio. Here are the only two large works to date to be on raw canvas. There are 4 more small works of the same format that are not presented here.
Just like all the portraits d'ano, they speak of hypocrisie in society and particularily in the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. He always investigate the idea of the social mask but when fellow artist Ano stated that hypocrisy was in the DNA of his people as a result of the history of slavery, Thierry Alet had a vivid reaction. He did not recognize himself in this definition which he found offensive to an entire nation.
